Dambulla

Dambulla is situated in a central hub of Sri Lankan tourism. Located in the central province of Sri Lanka, Dambulla is just 30 minutes away from Sigiriya. Roads to Matale, Anuradhapura, Kandy and Polonnaruwa all connects to Dambulla. Dambulla city can be a very busy place during the daytime. This is because Sri Lanka’s main vegetable distribution center is located here.


It is best to stay in Kandalama or Sigiriya and plan a day trip to Dambulla. Some stop on their way to Kandy or Anuradhapura. Main attraction in Dambulla is the Royal Cave Temple. It consists of five separate caves with nearly 150 Buddha statues. These images were first created around the 1st century BC. When You are at the top of the rock, don’t forget to check out the magnificent view of the surrounding.


Temperature is between 31°C to 34°C throughout the year. This region is warm and dry throughout the year. The best time to visit is May to September during the dry season.
