The Festival runs for about 10 days starting from the first week of August. This is one of the most colorful religious parades in the world with a rich history.

Elephants play an important part in the perahara. They parade among the drummers, Kandyan dancers, and fire jugglers. All the elephants are dressed in beautiful costumes and lights. You will find it hard to choose which one is the most beautiful. The tooth relic is carried around by the main Elephant. They are chosen especially since birth.

Because of the high demand, the price of hotels and viewpoints go up in prices. It is best to reserve your places early.
