Matale

Matale is one of the largest cities located in the fertile Vally of central hills of Sri Lanka. The city is surrounded by large tea plantations and spices. Many tourist visit spice gardens in Matale for their herbal products. Many travel through Matale to Kandy, but not many stay overnight though. This does not mean Matale is a tourist-friendly city. The main reason is other cities are located and offer a lot more value for money.

Many spice gardens do offer very good herbal massages for relaxation. The town is surrounded by the famous Knuckles Mountain Range.

The best time to travel is between December and February. Temperature is between 26°C to 30°C throughout the year.
